Ninja SLUSHi Wine Slush Recipe

Ninja SLUSHi Wine Slush Recipe

I’m not a certified sommelier who spends a lot of time creating wine-based recipes, but when I got the Ninja SLUSHi machine at home, it made me feel much more confident about making frozen drinks.

I have created many slushies using the machine, and one of my favorites is this Wine Slush Recipe.

The Ninja SLUSHi is designed specifically for making slushy drinks, so you do not need to add ice. All you need to do is pour in the right amount of wine and mixer, choose the proper setting, and let the machine create that smooth, frozen texture.

My Ninja SLUSHi Wine Slush Recipe makes it easy to enjoy a refreshing wine slush at home.

The recipe keeps the ingredients simple while helping you get the right balance of wine, sweetness, and slushy texture every time.

What Is the Best Wine for a Ninja SLUSHi

The wine is more important than you may think. Its flavor stays noticeable after freezing. A wine you already enjoy drinking is usually a good place to start.

I prefer wines with fresh fruit or floral notes because cold temperatures can soften sweetness and make some flavors less noticeable.

Here’s a quick look at four white wines that work well in a Ninja SLUSHi. Each one brings a slightly different flavor and level of sweetness once frozen.

  • Moscato: Moscato works well when you want a sweeter wine slush. Its natural sweetness and fruit flavor can reduce the need for extra sugar. Keep the alcohol level in mind, though, and adjust the added liquid so the mixture can freeze properly.
  • Pinot Grigio: Pinot Grigio makes a lighter and cleaner wine slush. Its mild flavor works nicely with citrus or other simple mixers. I would add sweetness slowly because some bottles are quite dry, while others already have enough fruit flavor.
  • Riesling: Riesling gives you a lot of flexibility. A sweeter bottle can create a fruity slush with less added sugar, while a dry Riesling may need a little more sweetness. Check the bottle style before mixing because Riesling can vary a lot.
  • Sauvignon Blanc: Sauvignon Blanc is my choice for this version because its fresh flavor still comes through after freezing. It also works well with a small amount of jalapeño. The pepper adds a little heat at the end without taking over the drink.

What You’ll Need for a Ninja SLUSHi Wine Slush

These four ingredients work together to give the wine slush its flavor, sweetness, and smooth frozen texture.

A few can be swapped, but keeping the balance close to the recipe will help the mixture freeze properly.

  • Sauvignon Blanc (16.9 oz / 500 ml) – A crisp white wine gives the slush its main flavor. Pinot Grigio or a light Riesling can also work. Choose a bottle you enjoy drinking because the wine flavor will still come through once it is frozen.
  • Jalapeño (½ pepper, chopped) – A small amount adds a light heat that develops as it steeps in the wine. Jalapeños can vary in heat, so start with less and taste the wine before adding more. Leave it out for a plain wine slush or use Serrano for more heat.
  • Granulated Sugar (2.45 oz / 49 g) – Sugar adds sweetness and helps the mixture form a smooth slushy texture. The amount can be adjusted slightly based on how sweet or dry the wine tastes. Simple syrup can also work and mixes easily into cold liquid.
  • Water (2.8 oz / 83 ml) – Water keeps the wine flavor balanced without making the drink too strong.

How to Make Wine Slush in the Ninja SLUSHi

Here’s a simple look at how to make this wine slush in the Ninja SLUSHi.

1. Infuse the Wine with Jalapeño

Pour the 500 ml of Sauvignon Blanc into a pitcher or jar and add the chopped jalapeño.

Let it steep for about 15 minutes. The wine should still be the main flavor, with just a light warmth from the pepper.

2. Taste and Adjust the Heat

Taste the wine after 15 minutes. Leave the jalapeño in for another 15 minutes for heat (optional).

Pepper heat can vary, so taste the mixture instead of relying only on the steeping time. Remove the jalapeño once the flavor is right.

3. Mix in the Sugar and Water

Add the sugar and water to the infused wine and stir until the sugar dissolves.

This adds sweetness and helps lower the alcohol level so the mixture can freeze into a smooth slush.

4. Strain and Add to the Ninja SLUSHi

Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer to remove the jalapeño pieces and seeds. Then pour the strained liquid into the Ninja SLUSHi.

Make sure the total mixture stays within the Ninja SLUSHi’s recommended fill range. Close the lid before starting the machine.

5. Choose the Spiked Slush Setting

Select the Spiked Slush setting and let the machine freeze the mixture. The freezing time can vary based on the starting temperature, ingredients, and batch size.

Once the machine indicates that the slush has reached the desired consistency, it is ready to serve.

6. Dispense and Serve The Wine Slush

Place a glass under the dispenser and slowly pull the handle to pour the wine slush. Serve it while it is cold and smooth.

Tips for Perfect Wine Slush

The jalapeño and wine are the two parts I would pay the most attention to here. A little change in either one can affect the whole batch.

  1. Keep the total liquid within the machine’s 16 to 64-ounce range, or the texture won’t set up evenly.
  2. Chill the wine in the fridge before starting the infusion, since a cold liquid freezes into a smoother slush than one that started at room temperature.
  3. Use a fresh jalapeno rather than a pickled one, since pickled peppers bring vinegar into the mix and change the overall flavor of the slush.

Wine Slush Food Pairing Ideas

I usually keep the food fairly simple with this one. The wine is still the main flavor, and the little bit of jalapeño heat means salty foods and lighter dishes tend to work well with it.

1. Shrimp: Grilled or chilled shrimp pairs nicely with Sauvignon Blanc and does not feel too heavy beside a frozen drink.

2. Fish tacos: A mild fish filling with cabbage and lime works well with the fresh wine flavor. The jalapeño in the slush can add a little extra warmth.

3. Cheese and crackers: Try mild goat cheese, brie, or a soft cream cheese spread. Salty crackers help balance the slight sweetness.

4. Chicken skewers: Lightly seasoned grilled chicken gives you a simple option that does not overpower the drink.

5. Fresh fruit: Grapes, melon, peaches, and strawberries work well beside white wine slush. Keep the fruit cold for a simple, refreshing plate.

Ninja SLUSHi Wine Slush Recipe FAQs

Making wine slush is easy, but you may still have a few questions. I answered some common ones below.

1. Can I make the wine slush ahead of time?

You can prepare the wine mixture ahead of time and keep it in the refrigerator. When you are ready, pour it into the Ninja SLUSHi and start the Spiked Slush setting.

I would add the jalapeño and strain it before storing the mixture.

2. What should I do with leftover wine slush?

You can keep leftover slush in the Ninja SLUSHi while the machine continues running. Once the machine is turned off, the slush will slowly melt.

For later use, store it in the refrigerator and freeze it again in the machine when ready.

3. Can I add dairy or cream to this wine slush?

Dairy doesn’t pair well with wine in this machine. The acidity can cause curdling, and the texture gets weird. Stick to fruit-based or wine-only recipes for the best results with this particular drink.

4. Is there a non-alcoholic version I can make?

Replace the wine with white grape juice or a crisp apple cider. Add a little lemon juice for acidity. The sugar and water ratio stays the same, and the machine freezes it just as nicely.
